DOWN, but not out!

My friend, Kathleen Dillard, recently broke her ankle while on a visit to Jerusalem. She shares about one of her experiences here (click on APR 2005).

She goes on to share Five High Points of being “Down, but not out”. I quote here from the newsletter:

The Power of Weakness:

1. Weakness helps you remember that you need some-One bigger than yourself to lean on.
“My power is made perfect in weakness.” -2Co.12:9

2. Weakness can make you humble, and thereʼs nothing bad about that.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” -Jas2:6

3. Weakness can make you cling to God.
“If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.” -Jn15:5

4. Weakness attracts Godʼs attention.
“God chose the weak things.” -1Cor.1:27

5. Weakness helps you connect with others who are going through tough
times.
“Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” -2Cor 1:4

Thanks, Kathleen, for this timely reminder. And in my weakness, “…I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus… …I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14)

Not in my own strength, but in His. Thanks, God. :-)
