Westward Ho!!

Posted by Nancy on 28 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: Family

That’s right, it’s the end of October and Richard and I are going on vacation! We’re taking almost 2 weeks to fly to Denver then drive to visit my younger brother (can’t call him my “little brother any more!!), then on to Las Vegas for a 3-day Design/Build conference where Richard will be “bestowed” with the certification to do Design/Build work. After that, we will drive to Sedona, AZ for a 3-day visit with family, friends, and the beautiful RED ROCKS! Mmmm!!! We will then drive to NM to visit with more friends, stay overnight in Raton, the town where Richard was born, and then drive back up to my brother’s in Loveland for another overnight visit before departing from the Denver airport to fly back home. We so need this time out in the great expanses of our beautiful country, to let the magnitude of the countryside and the sun and wind to put our everyday problems back into God’s perspective.

Some friends will be staying in our house, keeping watch over our home and pets while we’re gone. THANK YOU, Friends!! :-)

Andrew is 5 (Kindergarten) and Jesse is 3.  They love puzzles, and I just happen to have only 2… both of the United States of America.

Signing ASL

Julia and I are taking a class in American Sign Language at the West Hampton Baptist Church in Hampton, VA.  This church is unusual in that it is a combined Hearing/Deaf church.  There is a pastor and there are services for deaf people conducted in American Sign Language.  This allows families with deaf members to attend church together, yet worship and have classes in their own languages.

An interesting evening… economic crisis: financial or cultural?

I went to a meeting tonight at the Regent University campus, where Professor Guptara was addressing a small informal group of students.  Professor Guptara did an excellent job speaking to this group, and I - no economics studies at all! -  was able to follow him.  He presented some challenges and some good suggestions concerning our present national & world economic situation.  Many thanks to the School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship for sponsoring this evening.
